Aquino appoints new officials in government
President Benigno S. Aquino III has appointed
new officials in various government agencies including judges to the lower
courts, a Palace official said.
The appointments were announced by Presidential
Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda during an interview aired over government-run radio
station dzRB Radyo ng Bayan on Saturday.
The Chief Executive signed the appointment
letters of Janet B. Abuel and Gil P. Montalbo as Assistant Secretaries of the
Department of Budget and Management (DBM). Abuel will replace Ruby V. Alvarez.
Other presidential appointees include the
following:
- Nestor Antonio P. Monroy as Acting Director II
of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), replacing Eleuterio P.
Navarro Jr.
- Liberty T. Casco as Deputy Administrator of
the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) which is under the
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). Casco replaces Noriel P. Devanadera.
- Alfredo G. Tolentino as Undersecretary of the
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). He was appointed under a
co-terminus status.
- Meleda H. Polita as Schools Division
Superintendent of the Department of Education, replacing Lourdes M. Victoriano.
Polita was likewise appointed as Career Executive Service Officer (CESO) rank
VI.
Also appointed are Judge Jerry B. Dicdican as
presiding judge of the Danao City (Cebu) Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 25
and Judge Anna Marie Pace Militante as presiding judge of the Lapu-Lapu City
(Cebu) Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 53.
President Aquino likewise approved the
nomination of Danilo T. Carranza and Francisco C, Mabaso Jr. as members of the
Board of Directors representing the Farmers' Sector, United Coconut Planters
Bank -Coconut Industry Investment Fund (UCPB-CIIF) Oil Mills Groups.
Carranza was installed for Group A: San Pablo
Manufacturing Corporation, Southern Luzon Coconut Oil Mill, Inc. and Legaspi
Oil Company, Inc. while Mabaso for Group B: Granexport Manufacturing
Corporation, Cagayan de Oro Oil Company and Iligan Coconut Industries Inc.
The Chief Executive also approved the nomination
of Felix G. Ayson as chief of the Aquaculture Department, Southeast Asian
Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) for a term of two years. (PCOO)
