President Benigno S. Aquino III has declared February 24, 2012 which falls on a Friday as a special non-working day in the Province of Zamboanga Sibugay in commemoration of its 11th Charter Anniversary.
President Benigno S. Aquino III has declared February 24, 2012 which falls on a Friday as a special non-working day in the Province of Zamboanga Sibugay in commemoration of its 11th Charter Anniversary.
In Proclamation No. 330 signed by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr. on February 7, President Aquino issued the declaration to give the province the full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with fitting ceremonies.
Zamboanga Sibugay is a province located in the Zamboanga Peninsula region in Mindanao.
The province was created by virtue of Republic Act No. 8973 on February 24, 2001.
Zamboanga Sibugay will hold Sibug-Sibug Festival to celebrate the Charter Day of the province. The festivity is marked by colorful ethnic street dancing that depicts good harvest, wedding, and healing ritual.
The festival also promotes the province's primary produce, the oyster or talaba. (PCOO)
