Aquino calls on the Filipinos to vote candidates who will help his administration to improve the country's economy

President Benigno S. Aquino III called on Filipinos to vote candidates who will help his administration to continue effecting reforms to chart the country to a higher economic growth trajectory.

In his speech during the Miting de Avance of the Liberal Party-Quezon City Chapter held at the Amoranto Sports Complex in Barangay Paligsahan, Quezon City on Friday, the Chief Executive urged the people to support the Team PNOY senatorial candidates who will help his administration in pushing for more programs that will benefit the people in the long term.

With the help of the Filipino people, President Aquino said his administration succeeded in creating positive change to improve the country's economy and the lives of the people.

The move of Fitch Group and Standard & Poors granting the Philippines its investment grade status is another affirmation of President Aquino’s agenda and leadership.

He pointed out that his administration continues to invest in the necessary infrastructure projects to boost the country's agriculture, trade and tourism sectors.

President Aquino said Filipinos have started to reap the fruits of the reforms that are being initiated by his government since June 2010.

The President, likewise, said the government remains committed to strengthening the country's fiscal position, intensifying investments through social services, education, and health among others.

He said the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Electrification Administration (NEA), are working together in carrying out the electrification project in the entire country.

PND (js)

Palace asks public to help ensure orderly, peaceful election on Monday

Malacanang asked the public to cooperate with authorities to ensure an orderly and peaceful election on Monday.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said in a radio interview over dzRB Radyo ng Bayan on Saturday that the people must be aware of the liquor ban that will be implemented tomorrow prior to Monday’s polls.

The Official Gazette, a Palace website, is also posting an infographic so that the public will know the “do’s” and “don’ts” on election day as government’s public service and assistance to voters, she said.

And to address the alleged vote-buying in some areas, Valte said the President has instructed the police and the military to intensify their operations against this illegal act.

But since the police and military have certain limitations in areas they cover, Valte said the Palace is asking the help of the people for them to be more vigilant and report to authorities vote-buying activities.

“Kaya malaki din ang ating pag-asa doon sa mga nagbabantay na mga kababayan natin to report these incidents. At kapag meron kayong narinig, or meron kayong na-witness ay i-report ninyo agad sa ating kapulisan at mabilis ang kanilang magiging aksyon,” Valte said.

Valte also said the Palace hopes that the people would be aware of the use of signal jammers that might hamper the transmission of election results.

She said Malacanang hopes that the importation dissemination campaign of the Comelec and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) would make the public more aware on the use of these jammers and report to the authorities if they see individuals using the device.

“Kung makakita kayo sa presinto ninyo ng mga ganitong contraption, mga maliliit na makina on election day, i-report din, go agad sa PNP para ma-apprehend sila,” she said.

The Palace official also said that the military made an assurance that its election plans are already in place and will continue to operate to ensure peaceful and orderly election on Monday.

The Palace also received a report this morning that the military apprehended suspected members of the New People’s Army in Bulacan apparently extorting local politicians, she said. PND (as)
