More Filipinos visit P-Noy's website

Since its launch last week, President Benigno S. Aquino III’s website (www.president.gov.ph) has been visited by some 20,000 Filipinos here and abroad, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma said on Sunday.

In a press briefing aired over state-run dzRB, Coloma said the bulk of the website’s “hits” came from overseas Filipinos working and living in 94 countries around the world.

He added that almost all of the President’s website visitors posted comments on his Face Book account to air various concerns ranging from employment (what opportunities await returning OFWs) and education (the addition of two more years to basic education).

Malacañang, through the PCOO, launched last August 16 a new interactive website providing the public updates on the official events of President Aquino and a venue for constructive feedback mechanism using the digital media.

Coloma said the President was pleased with the public’s reception to the website and instructed them to find ways to improve the service.

“Sinabi niya sa amin ay suriin pa at pag-aralan pa kung paano siya higit na tuwirang makakalahok dito sa prosesong ito kaya makaka-asa tayo na sinusubaybayan niya ng mataimtim ang mga nangyayari dito. Talagang interesado siya,” Coloma concluded. (“The President told us to carefully study how he can actively participate in this new media process which is why we can be sure that the President is regularly monitoring the website,” said Coloma, adding that the President is really interested in effectively communicating with the people).
