Aquino declares April 15-20 as ‘Purchasing and Supply Management Week’
President Benigno S. Aquino III has declared April 15-20 as the "Purchasing and Supply Management Week" to increase public awareness of the important role played by purchasing and materials managers in the country's commercial industry.
In Proclamation No. 359 signed by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr. on March 28, the President noted that the Philippine Institute for Supply Management (PISM) and the purchasing and materials managers help upgrade the quality and competitiveness of Philippine goods and services for both the domestic and foreign markets.
The PISM is a non-stock, non-profit organization of purchasing and materials managers from various top corporations in the country.
The PISM will hold SUPPLYLINK2012, with the theme "Tomorrow's Supply Chain in a Value-Driven Global Economy" on April 19 and 20, 2012 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. (PCOO)

Aquino appoints new judges to lower courts
President Benigno S. Aquino III appointed seven new judges to the lower courts in the cities of Pasig, Malabon and Paranaque, a Palace official said on Saturday.
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte announced during an interview aired over government-run dzRB Radyo ng Bayan that President Aquino appointed Judge Christian Emmanuel G. Pimentel to the Pasig Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 69, as well as Judge Jimmy Edmund G. Batara as presiding judge of the Malabon Regional Trial Court Branch 72.
Likewise, President Aquino also filled up the following vacancies in the Paranaque Metropolitan Trial Court: Judge Leilanie Marie D. Grimares has been appointed to Branch 87; Judge Belen S. Carasig as presiding judge of Branch 88; Judge Harold Cesar C. Huliganga to Branch 89; Judge Marisa M. Buenagua was named as presiding judge of Branch 90; and Judge Christian P. Aquino to monitor all concerned gov't agencies to ensure hazard-free Lenten season for public
President Benigno S. Aquino III intends to monitor all concerned government agencies to ensure their readiness to implement their respective tasks and missions to attain an accident and hazard free Lenten season for the public.
"The President wants to make sure that everything is in order. He wants to see for himself that the preparations are in place and that all the agencies are doing what they are supposed to be doing," Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said during an interview aired over government-run dzRB Radyo ng Bayan on Saturday.
Valte said the Chief Executive is set to inspect bus terminals, seaports and airports to ensure the safety of the Filipino people and tourists, especially those going to the provinces.
Aside from the public terminals, the President reiterated to the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other law enforcement agencies to secure churches, places of worships, vital installations, embassies, tourist spots, malls, commercial establishments and other public places.
"Nandiyan na ang PNP, ang mga tauhan ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Department of Transportation and Communications, Department of Public Works and Highways para siguraduhin na safe ang pagbiyahe natin paalis at pabalik ng Metro Manila," Valte said.
"Doon sa mga bibiyahe, please do take note of the emergency lines na kailangan niyo para if you need assistance nandiyan ang mga tutulong po sa inyo," Valte said. (PCOO)
