Aquino to preside over Energy Summit this week, Malacañang says
Malacañang on Sunday said President Benigno S. Aquino III will preside over an Energy Summit this week to tackle the power crisis that has been causing rotating blackouts in Mindanao.
In a press briefing aired over government-run radio station dzRB Radyo ng Bayan Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said the President would take this opportunity to sit down with stakeholders and discuss ways to address the energy crisis that has been causing up to 15 hour long power outages in some parts of Mindanao Island.
“The President would like to take advantage of the opportunity to have all the stakeholders there (Energy Summit) and to clear the air about the situation in Mindanao,” Valte said.
She added that the President would discuss the government’s proposed solutions as well as hear the side from concerned parties “to have a speedier resolution to this problem.”
“Meron po tayong mga proposed solutions at kailangan natin ang kooperasyon ng mga stakeholders para ma-implement ang mga solusyons na ito,” Valte said.
She said the Department of Energy has been on top of the situation by meeting with stakeholders “in order to clarify issues and to get up to date information on the plans of the department as well as the administration to continue to address the situation in that area.” (PCOO)
